10 Legends Characters Who Should Return To Canon – Armessa Movie News

As the Star Wars canon continues to expand with the likes of the High Republic’s second phase and then TV shows like Andor, some fans patiently hold out hope that some beloved elements of Legends will find their place in the canon. In Obi-Wan Kenobi, a few Legends characters, such as Corran Horn (seemingly) appeared to be made canon, but there are many other characters fans want to.

For many, they either have been made canon but have no real fleshed-out story or cannot fit in. There are some, though, fans would love to see integrated somehow, someway, in one of the many eras of the Galaxy far, far away.

10 Mara Jade

Mara Jade Skywalker is such a brilliant and adored character in the Legends timeline, but unfortunately just cannot fit in the canon in her exact Legends form. That does not mean she does not deserve to be included somehow.

The character is not 100% defined by her relationship with Luke Skywalker in Legends. While it would certainly take away from whom that character is and her journey, having a new iteration of Mara Jade, perhaps in a different era, could be great as long as that badass vibe and that core character is maintained.

9 Darth Malak

Knights of the Old Republic remains one of, if not the greatest and most loved Star Wars video games of all time, and while a lot of that is down to the already canon Revan, the remarkable story, and the depth, Darth Malak has his part to play.

Thus far, there has been a slew of Sith Lords from Legends made canon without any real story, perhaps through reference books or small mentions. Darth Malak would be a fantastic addition, just as he is in Legends. His relationship with Revan is fascinating, and his design is great. While he may be a bit one-dimensional, that does not mean he would not make a great addition to the canon in Old Republic-based stories in the future.

8 Bastilla Shan

While the canon is arguably void of great stories/characters from older times like the Old Republic, it is thriving with its Jedi, thanks to the High Republic. Still, Bastilla Shan would be a terrific addition to the canon.

A mighty Jedi Knight with unique and impressive skill in Battle Meditation, Bastilla could be at the forefront of some great stories, and epic moments in pretty much any medium should the character be transferred over. Even if her Old Republic Legends version is scrapped in favor of perhaps a Jedi in the future beyond the sequels or the High Republic, fans would still love to see her get brought into the canon rather than left behind.

7 Lumiya

Lumiya, Dark Lady of the Sith, is arguably one of the more underrated characters in Legends, whose importance to the Skywalker story is great and who had an interesting story in her own right.

She is another who could not be brought to canon in the same way, but a Dark Lady of the Sith, with her light whip, could very well be placed in most eras of Star Wars canon and be the antagonist for a great story. She is a character who would be hard to translate but would thrive with the right storyteller at the right time.

6 Darth Sion

While the first game is by far the more acclaimed and well-known game, Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a great follow-up. Much of its quality can be attributed to the Sith Triumvate that many confuse as being canon, but, it is only Nihilus that is canon, Darth Sion is not (nor is Darth Traya), but he should be.

Star Wars Legends did a good job of creating unique Sith Lords even if many of them were far too overpowered, and Darth Sion is no exception, being genuinely terrifying, as indicated by his title, the ‘Lord of Pain.’ Sion survived the Great Sith War and achieved a twisted kind of immortality by allowing himself to be consumed by agony with a frail, decaying body. He would be a superb Sith Lord to bring into the canon fold.

5 Kyle Katarn

Kyle Katarn is one of the most well-known and well-liked Str Wars Legends heroes, the protagonist of the Jedi Knight series, and an all-around fascinating character; fans have clamored for his introduction to the canon for years now.

The chances seem slim to none that he would be introduced as a student or ally of Luke Skywalker, but there is still a chance they knew one another, and maybe even Katarn could be a part of the post-sequel trilogy story. He is a character hard to adapt to the current canon landscape, and his Legends story may well always be better than in canon, but with the skilled story team and various creatives, it is possible.

4 Tycho Celchu

Fans are well aware that the Rogue Squadron story is in development, and they are hoping that some beloved characters from the Legends novels are brought into the fold for it, not least of all Tycho Celchu.

Of all the characters involved in the Rogue Squadron-centric Legends stories, Celchu is perhaps the most famous who has yet to be brought into the canon. He also undergoes some amazing development as a human and a pilot, turning from a hothead to a person of honor, as well as just a phenomenal pilot. Any Rogue Squadron-related content will put itself t a disadvantage if they do not adapt Celchu in some way.

3 HK-47

Of all the non-canon Knights of the Old Republic, none are easier to bring into canon than HK-47 because while the likes of Malak are shackled to a time long before the Skywalkers, HK-47 and his hilarious, murderous ways can be dropped into any era.

HK-47 is like a humanoid, more adult version of Chopper from Rebels and is one of the highlights of KoTOR, being one of the best companions. He is best served in that story and that era, but having his meatbag-hating personality causing laughter and pain to his enemies would make many fans happy.

2 Shae Vizla

Mandalorians are having a moment in Star Wars and pop culture right now thanks to Din Djarin and The Mandalorian, but they have always been incredible, from the likes of Satine and Bo-Katan, all the way to Legends characters such as Shae Vizla.

With The Mandalorian’s third season promising to explore Mandalore and the history of Mandalorians, it would be a great time to bring Mandalore the Avenger into the canon. A viciously skilled fighter and a ruthless bounty hunter, Vizla is fantastic in The Old Republic and would be an equally as brilliant character should she get brought into the canon.

1 Nomi Sunrider

The High Republic content has made way for all manner of fascinating Jedi with all sorts of backstory and brilliance to them. However, Jedi like Nomi Sunrider, with her trauma and skill, would still make for a valuable and celebrated addition to the canon.

She is arguably underrated in that she is not brought up anywhere near as much as the overpowered Sith Lords or those deeply rooted in the Skywalker saga drama. Still, Sunrider went through a lot in her life. Balancing the Force with single motherhood, Sunrider became an immense Jedi, one of the best in the Galaxy, skilled in many unique ways. With all that combined with likability and badassery, there is no reason she should not be, in some way, brought into the canon.
