Good action martial arts movie. There is not much to this movie's storyline. He wants to open a school but must challenge the other schools and in the midst of doing this he is pulled into political issues going on with the country. That is where the story goes a little off the rails. It seems like it is trying to fit to much into the story with his dad, the political issues and the opening of a school. The fight scenes are what saves this movie. As far as an action film, this movie is worth the watch.
I miss growing up watching some of the best martial arts films from China. Even the bad ones were super entertaining. It's been decades, but this one took me back to my childhood in a great way… ๐ช๐ค๐ค๐๐ค
This was an excellent film, and it can be related directly to todays' events. "The nail that sticks out, gets hammered down", a very profound statement (which I live by).
Variation of Bruce Lee's "Game of Death" … climbing the tower to duel with a different warrior on each level … also the structure of modern video combat sports egames.
I haven't seen such a good movie like this for a long time. This is a classic martial art movie. I'm bored with Chinese movies with actors and actresses who look like K-pop.

This guy doesn't resemble the great Jet Li at all his style of fighting is of another of how he fights. Whoever said he resembles Jet Li fighting shouldn't watch fighting movies.
Misleading title & too many phony reviews. The guy was no king, and he didn't fight seven schools or even got his own school. The movie was alright if you want to kill some time.
Great film. I enjoyed it a lot and recommend watching Jet Li's Fearless first, then this. Fearless Kung Fu King is an example of how great Chinese Martial Arts films don't need gimmicks, or schlocky nonsense to be viable. Just continue to do what made the world fall in love with this genre of films to begin with. Write great heroes and great villains with high production value and well executed fight scenes that show the depth and sophistication of Chinese technique. It literally never gets old. The only negative I felt in this film is that some fight scenes used the old school faster film speed technique to give the impression of greater speed of the fighters. It comes off as cheesy in an otherwise great presentation. Still, 5* recommended.
Fantastic movie from start to finish. The fighting is great, the story is good, video quality is excellent. Subtitles are dead on and the star of the movie is a bad*ss. Definitely worth watching, what a great movie.
