I can’t begin sex in any other position except missionary without pain – how do I fix this?

Basically, I can’t seem to start sex from behind or on top. It’s so painful, the only way I seem to be able to begin is missionary. Even if there’s been foreplay and I’m ready.
After a few moments of that I can change position no issue, but I’m wondering why this is and if there’s a way I can fix it?
