Is there a polite way to tell a guy he’s using condoms that are too big without absolutely crushing his ego?

I really like the guy, he’s sweet and funny and has so much going for him. He’s just a bit limited in size and it’s caused a few issues and near misses with safe sex. How can I make him get a smaller size without crushing his ego?
