I love this movie! But I stopped and had some flashbacks, of when Richie White (Matt Dillon ) pulled out the gun (which I believe was unloaded) and pointed it at the cop, then got shot and killed by the cop. In another movie Matt played in a little after this, the same thing happened… The Outsiders. It just reminded me of this movie. P.S. If you like Matt Dillon Liars Moon, Tex, Rumble Rish, Drugstore cowboy, and the outsiders, are a few of my fav movies that he stars in.
Really was like this in the 80's for us in Jersey , great movie. Teachers, cops and parents just left the kids adventure time on their own and shit happened then the adults were interested , LMFAO and yes Van Halen. Motorhead and Metallica blasting the neighborhood . River's Edge was another close to home….
This movie shows you why some kids today are so mouthy and arrogant. They have never been taught. If you ran your mouth in the old neighborhoods, you got a beat down. Not sometimes….EVERY TIME. There was the occasional crazy kid that never learned or just didnt care. But the rest of us learned quick that it is a dangerous world and there is an order of respect that has to be kept. There were checks and balances. And to hell with the haters…it was a better world. Not perfect, but better. A tougher world full of tough people. And because everyone was tough, people rarely stepped out of line. Today people step out of line everywhere at any time with no fear of consequences. Sigh…. I would love to go back and visit my old neighborhood. Just to see those kids one more time…
I had just got kicked out of the Navy in 70. A bunch of us guys from VA decided it was time to relocate. We picked a mp of Fla and headed for the center. Lakeland. We didnt know anybody. It was just like this movie. Our house becamse the local hangout. So many pretty girls. So much money. I was finished with the MIlitary so all I had to do was chase girs, get tore up and party. We stayed up all night and when the sun came up we walked to the Pancake house. Then slept all day. And did it all over again.
I've always liked this movie I was a teenager in the 60s and it was like this sometimes with the cops and some parents not getting their kids luckily I had Great parents
I was 15 when I saw this movie in 1979. I was like the main character, basically a good kid hanging with the wrong crowd. This movie taught me not to get dragged into some of their most nefarious schemes so I wouldn't end up getting busted like all those kids at the end.
28:12 is the greatest poster and I had it on my wall, too. Big Daddy Don Garlitz!! Amidst the fire and explosion the name on the front of his helmet is crystal clear "Big Daddy." It was so badass!
These types😢of wayside, wayward😮kids😂are the results of what their parents have not told each other, before, during, & after copulation, in the💔uncivilized population🙄of overcrowded, evil😩isolationism😅!
Juvenile delinquency caused in children of parents who copulate violently as the man & womb-man are more into sensation rather than sensitivity, thus🤺😂 producing violent behavior in their😮offspring💔😢!
The cops were dicks but I felt sorry for the parents and the school. At least these kids had a nice neighborhood and parents who were home and kept a roof over their heads. Their rebellion was not in proportion to the "oppression."
This was some crazy times and we had lots of fun and teenage stress of course but we didn't have that violence ..yeah there was a little but not this much and it was in central Fla
Well, I was born in 1962, I was 16 yo in 1978. This movie, until the end, represented 1978 in a mild form from where I grew up in Muskegon, MI. The parties I went to were much more intense and the violence was more intense. The drugs were everywhere and easy to find. I could go on and on. This is my first time seeing this movie. It represents a clip or two of my life at the time but as I have said, life was a lot more dangerous and violent.

We had packs of kids roaming the neighborhood at night. We took over parking lots, partying till the cops broke it up. We had an arcade where kids hung out. I don't think kids get out like that anymore. They are too busy on phones an video games. I remember that it did get rough at times with fights and vandalism. Its just a memory now. Hard to believe we're all 60 now.
I'm glad I didn't have any kids. Something was wrong in the lives of these kids. This movie is depressing. I grew up with 5 brothers and 4 sisters in the 70's in Los Angeles and I never witnessed any of this stuff. We were not rich at all. My dad worked 12 hour shifts and still made time to do things wth us like take us to the beach, camping, fishing, road trips to Tennessee, Louisiana, New York, Disneyland, Magic Mountain, play baseball and basketball with us, etc. I miss my mom and dad. They were the best.
smokin cigs in the woods behind the school, wearing black concert shirts, hiking boots and a flannel shirt, thinkin I'm a badass tough girl in seventh grade. And yes we all had the ubiquitous back pocket comb! Great movie! Love Matt Dillon! The pyrotechs had a lot of fun making this.

They should've had the kid pull the cop out of the car. Show some love to his enemy.
Bad kids ftw

As a Gen X, what a sight for sore eyes this movie is 🚬 💗 🛼 🎧
Leftist of yesterday at their best. Now they are grown and still acting the same way.
Can I tell you my favorite Matt Dillon story real briefly….

Reminds me of Pump up the volume- another story of kids with no direction. Parents who were too busy or too entitled to care. And a great soundtrack!

39:30 ish what a beautiful shot. This film is a magical moment.
