I was 11 when this was released. I saw it within a few years later. I can appreciate and understand the depths of it now like I never could before! Touched every heartstring I have, absolutely loved it! My mom's heart too, she always wanted "a little red-haired boy that looked just like her." Ron was perfect for her. Thanks and blessings for sharing this wonderful movie! ๐๐๐๐๐ฅฐ
What a heart warming movie with a delightful soundtrack. They used to really spend money and put a lot of effort into everything. The cast, soundtrack and writing were exceptional. All of this energy results in pure escapism and this was a nice slice of it. I only wish movies today would be more like this movie. It showcased the best of that golden age of the late 50s early 60s. MORE PLEASE – we need it!
Such a beautiful movie!! I hadn't seen it in a few years. Ron Howard is a delight and what acting! You fall in love with this little boy immediately!! Characters and storyline just great!! ๐๐
I remember watching this one on TCM or AMC when I was a kid. I'd seen quite a bit of the Andy Griffith show so I knew who Ron Howard was. It still holds up.
I'm so used to watching Glenn Ford in westerns. And of course Ron Howard in Andy Griffith. But this movie is a breath of fresh air. Had never seen this and I'm 54
Isn't that Lee Meriweather in the small role as the receptionist at the radio station ? The fomer Miss American would go on to be Catwoman on Batman and Betty in Barnaby Jones. Shirley Jones absolutely shines as the neighbor across the hall.
I 1:58:32 I thought seen this movie after watching it I think not. I do remember the title. Anyways enjoyable movie. Love the interaction between father and son โค
A Classic that I Honestly hadn't seen in Decades. But once I did. IT was just so remindful of My very Similar Childhood, less the loss of a Parent though. Myself and Two Older Sister's we're fortunate enough too have Our Parents through Our entire Early Life's, clear through the Middle Teen Year's of My Oldest Niece, and Nephew, & at which Time. The Very Younger One, was Six & Ten when My Parent's Passed away. My Opinion, & True POV of this Classic Film? IS that it Had such Firm Honest, Moral Ethics, Strong sense of Right & Wrong Direction throughout. And just absolutely a Great Story of American Family Value's, that was Really Cute, and was a Firm Solid Foundation at that Time. Upon Which Our Country was then the Greatest Nation in The World, in All it's Various Way's. "Man O Man" Thank You so much for Sharing.
Also No two Finer Actors could of Played Eddie & His Father. More Finely or Convincingly than Young Ron Howard, and Very Handsome, Though Mature Glenn Ford. Who was always Outstanding in Everything ๐๐๐๐ค He Ever Acted In. In My Humble Opinion and POV. TKS.
I donโt believe there is any such thing as normal. God is in His heaven but all we give is sin upon more sin. America is under His judgement and we have cut Him out from our lives and our country. Wake up America and pray. Where is the church of our Lord Jesus Christ? Pray for forgiveness. Go before Him and confess. Repent and He will hear.
Every bit as good as I remember, decades ago! I'm a sucker for happy endings and mushy love stories, Ronny was a phenomenal actor, so realistic. The director had a lot of finesse.
Oh, the sweetness of watching a GOOD movie from days of old. Ron Howard is a superb actor and always has been. Love his description of a 'bad' lady: skinny eyes and big busts.' Hilarious and generally true! Glenn Ford – I think I used to be in love with him a bit – and Shirley Jones- superior and yet perfectly, herself. What a nice break from today's mixed-up world.

At 1:27 wisdom of mature man coming from character of a boy.

My favorite Glenn Ford movie
THE 60'S (EARLY) FILMS SHOWING MIDDLE CLASS AMERICA IN GORGEOUS COLOR, FABULOUS HOMES AND CLOTHING…LOVE IT!
Between the two ladies Shirley Jones is a definite yes.
My Brother, Jim, and I loved the TV show. The movie is awesome!

Sept 6, 2023- Since I discovered this movie I watched it several times. Just so delightful.
This movie was so delightful; it had its comical moments too. Great acting and wholesome movies.
What an adorable movie!
What a natural talent!! Little Ronny Howard. Fun seeing his real-life Dad, Rance, in the camp scenes.

The World has always
been NORMAL.
It is the PEOPLE IN
THIS WORLD WHO
ARE NOT NORMAL..
Eddie had me ๐ at the end.
That drum solo Dolly!! ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ฅ
What a cute child! ๐๐ Him and his "tan." ๐๐๐
He shouldn't force his kid to like Rita. Kids have a keen sense of figuring people out. He should take notice.
Ron Howard's description of Floozies & good girls was classic. Loved this movie.
Happy tears ๐ข๐๐
lol little Ronney getting the thermometer the wrong way lol
well he took one for the team that day!! lol
cool classic flick!
life sure was simple back then.

I noticed, in the studio with Jerry Van Dyke, one of the pictures on the wall looks like DICK Van Dyke!!! Time stamp: 36:52. ๐๐
Ron Howard will always be Opie Taylor to me. โค
This movie is insanely sexist.
