She decides to visit a horse that lives next door, who happens to be played by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The friendly horse’s name is Major Tom, and he teaches Bluey’s friend two memorable things. The first is that horses have long necks and the second is that Old MacDonald has a horse, but she was on holiday when the book was written.
9 Robert Irwin As Alfie
Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin, decided to share his voice with the world during season 2, episode 37, “The Quiet Game”. Irwin portrays Alfie, a sweet store clerk who is willing to lend a hand during a difficult moment for Bandit. Bluey and Bingo are playing the quiet game, and their dad is having a hard time figuring out what they are miming. Despite it only being his first day on the job, Alfie steps in and helps, leading to Bandit complimenting him to his boss.
8 Eva Mendes As Yoga Instructor
After American actress, Eva Mendes, shared with Now To Love that her daughters’ favorite show and that she can’t get enough of it, it’s no surprise that Bluey‘s producers found a way for her to join in on the action. Mendes plays an energetic yoga instructor that Chili is watching and following on TV before she is interrupted by Bluey and Bingo. This happens in season 3, episode 6, “Born Yesterday”.
7 Natalie Portman As A Whale Documentary Narrator
Oscar-winner, Natalie Portman, joined Bluey for season 3, episode 22, “Whale Watching”. Although her character cannot be seen, she can be heard as she is the narrator of the whale documentary that Bluey and Bingo are watching. It is definitely one of the more subtle cameos, but it fits in perfectly with the overall story of the episode.
6 Rose Byrne As Aunt Brandy
Rose Byrne appeared on one of the most emotional and well-received episodes of Bluey. Season 3, episode 31, “Onesies” introduced audiences to Chili’s sister, Brandy. In the episode, Bluey asks her mom why Brandy is sad, as well as why she and her sister have only met her once before. Chili shares that “there’s something aunty Brandy wants more than anything as well but she can’t have it, and there’s not really anything anyone can do.” This line, coupled with the fact that Brandy was visibly uncomfortable around her nieces has been widely interpreted to mean that Brandy has been dealing with infertility.
The episode and Bryne’s character have been celebrated as bringing awareness to the difficulties of infertility in a sensitive and child-appropriate manner. Many adult viewers have expressed that they felt seen by the character of Aunt Brandy and that Bryne’s performance was incredible. It was one of the times Bluey tackled serious issues.
5 Anthony Field As Postie
Anthony Field, best known for the Blue Wiggle as well as an actor, songwriter, and producer, took his skills back to children’s television for four episodes of Bluey. He plays Postie, who is Rusty’s dad and a post office employee. This is not the only way the show has incorporated Field into the show. During season 3, episode 16, “Phones”, Bluey can be seen next to a framed photograph of The Wiggles as dogs.
4 Hamish Blake As Jack’s Dad
Comedian, actor, and author, Hamish Blake made an appearance on Bluey as Jack’s dad in four different episodes. He is a Jack Russell Terrier on the show and his wife, Zoe Foster Blake, actually made a cameo on it as well. She appropriately plays Jack’s mom and can be found in the same four episodes as her husband.
3 Megan Washington As Calypso
Megan Washington, a talented Australian musician and singer, lent her signature voice to a total of 14 different episodes, giving her the most screen time of any celebrity who made an appearance on the show. She has a prime role in the series, as she plays a teacher at Bluey’s school. She is an Australian Shepard named Calypso who can often be seen teaching important life lessons to her students and viewers.
Washington also got to utilize her singing skills on the show, as she sang one of the most well-known songs to come out of the show. The song is titled “The Gnome Song” and plays in season 1, episode 17, “Calypso”. The song is also featured on the Bluey album called “Dance Mode”.
2 Layne Beachley As A Surfer
Given that Layne Beachley is an extremely talented and award-winning professional surfer, it’s only fitting that she plays a surfing dog on Bluey. Her character appears in season 1, episode 26, “The Beach”. In the episode, her character is a surfing champion whom Bluey briefly encounters during a family trip to the beach. Her appearance on the show was not heavily publicized, leaving viewers with a fun treat when they recognized her voice in the episode.
1 Leigh Sales As An Ice Cream Lady
Australian journalist, author, and illustrator, Leigh Sales, lent her voice to three different episodes of Bluey. These episodes include season 2, episode 3, “Ice Cream”, season 2, episode 35, “The Quiet Game”, and season 3, episode 2, “Tradies”. In all three of these episodes, Sales portrayed a cocker spaniel who works at an ice cream cart. While the character does not have a name, Sales herself refers to her character as “ice cream lady”.
