Almost every episode of Bob’s Burgers contains one or more Burgers of the Day at the Belcher’s restaurant. Although it must be a tiring task to think of a new one every day, and Bob has even gotten writer’s block before, it makes him happy to create unique burgers. Plus, it makes viewers happy when they spot the (usually) hilarious puns on the chalkboard behind the counter.
Following the season 13 finale, there are 260 episodes of the FOX animated sitcom and a feature film. So there are plenty of hilarious and clever Burgers of the Day to choose from to determine which ones are the best. Plus, there are many more puns to look forward to since FOX previously renewed Bob’s Burgers for seasons 14 and 15.
20 Rest In Peas Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 1, Episode 3)
An oldie but a goodie — the Rest in Peas Burger from Bob’s Burgers season 1, episode 3 might have been a tad bit insensitive at the time, but it still never fails to produce a laugh. The episode marked the first appearance of amateur filmmaker Randy Watkins when he stationed a cow named Moolissa in front of the burger restaurant as a part of his documentary. At the end of the half-hour, Moolissa died from a heart attack, so Bob used his meat to make him into the Rest in Peas Burger, the restaurant’s 100,000th burger.
19 Burger À La Mode (Bob’s Burgers Season 2, Episode 3)
Bob got his hands on an ice cream machine in Bob’s Burgers season 2, episode 3, and was so overjoyed that he had to make a Burger of the Day that included ice cream. Thankfully, he realized that the two foods shouldn’t be mixed, so his solution was to serve customers a burger à la mode (“comes with ice cream, not on top”), which was inspired by pie with ice cream, which is frequently called, “pie à la mode.” It was a great way to incorporate Bob’s new acquisition with his original cuisine while making patrons laugh.
18 The Don’t Get Crème Fraîche With Me Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 2, Episode 9)
The Burger of the Day often relates to the episode’s story, like in Bob’s Burgers season 2, episode 9. “Beefsquatch” revolved around a fight between Bob and Gene when Bob was picked for a cooking segment on a local morning news show. But he was only chosen because Gene’s act as Beefsquatch was hilarious. Bob resented his son for taking attention away from his cooking, which resulted in the Don’t Get Crème Fraîche With Me Burger — a funny play on the saying, “Don’t get fresh with me.”
17 Eggers Can’t Be Cheesers Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 3, Episode 11)
The Eggers Can’t Be Cheesers (beggars can’t be choosers) in Bob’s Burgers season 3, episode 11, is hilarious because it doesn’t actually make sense. Of course, the burger came with a fried egg and cheese, but the name suggested it didn’t have cheese. Sometimes Bob doesn’t think his Burgers of the Day through, but the mistakes are what makes them hilarious (most of the time).
16 The Cauliflower’s Cumin From Inside The House Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 4, Episode 2)
One of Bob’s Burgers‘ best Halloween episodes also contains arguably its best Burger of the Day — the Cauliflower’s Cumin From Inside the House Burger in season 4, episode 2, which comes with cauliflower and cumin. The meal is a pun on the “the call is coming from inside the house” trope from horror films, which works perfectly for the vibe of the episode. But the burger also contains two plays on words, which makes it doubly funny.
15 Gourdon-Hamsey Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 4, Episode 5)
The Gourdon-Hamsey Burger appeared in another excellent holiday episode — Bob’s Burgers season 4, episode 5. As the name suggests, it came with squash and ham, a combination that might even impress the man that the burger was named after (Gordon Ramsay). It’s a shame this creation didn’t get more air time in the Thanksgiving special, but maybe it will reappear in a future episode (hopefully, guest-starring Ramsay himself).
14 Parma Parma Parma Chameleon Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 4, Episode 20)
Now, the Parma Parma Parma Chameleon Burger from Bob’s Burgers season 4, episode 20, is just fun to say. Plus, while ordering the special, the customers could sing it to the tune of the Culture Club’s “Karma Chameleon,” the song after which it was named. The burger came with Parmesan crisp, so while it also induces laughs, the Parma Parma Parma Chameleon Burger also sounds delicious.
13 Cheeses Is Born Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 5, Episode 6)
Bob loves to have his Burgers of the Day align with the different holiday seasons, as seen with the Cheeses Is Born Burger in Bob’s Burgers season 5, episode 6. The meal is a play on the phrase, “Jesus is Born,” which made sense given that it was one of the animated sitcom’s many Christmas specials. Plus, the Cheeses Is Born Burger is reminiscent of the iconic Glee season 2 episode, “Grilled Cheesus,” so it gets extra points for that alone.
12 Blondes Have More Fun-gus Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 5, Episode 7)
When Linda decided to dye her hair blonde in Bob’s Burgers season 5, episode 7, Bob celebrated the special occasion by creating a Burger of the Day in honor of his wife — the Blondes Have More Fun-gus Burger, which came with mushrooms. Of course, the special is a hilarious play on words, but it also relates to an equally funny storyline in the show. However, it’s hard to imagine that many brunettes ordered that Burger of the Day.
11 Edamame Dearest Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 6, Episode 13)
Sometimes the simplest Burgers of the Day are the best in Bob’s Burgers. Season 6, episode 13 contained the Edamame Dearest Burger (came with edamame), which referred to the film Mommie Dearest. The burger is a clever pun, but it also subtly referred to Linda’s storyline in the episode. She pretended to be Sidecar’s mom, which resulted in a hilarious disaster for Linda, who was only trying to recapture her youth.
10 Topless The Morning To You Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 8, Episode 1)
Bob’s Burgers season 8, episode 1, was special because it contained the artwork of numerous fans worldwide. So, of course, the writers had to come up with an iconic Burger of the Day for the occasion, and they succeeded with the Topless the Morning to You Burger. The special, which likely came with no top bun, wasn’t a great sales pitch, but it is a lot of fun to say and a great way to incorporate the Belchers’ new brunch idea during the season 8 premiere.
9 Havarti Like Its 1999 Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 8, Episode 9)
Everyone loves a good Prince reference, especially when there’s cheese involved. One of the Burgers of the Day in Bob’s Burgers season 8, episode 9 was the Havarti Like Its 1999 Burger, and, of course, it came with Havarti cheese. The burger is a pun on a lyric from Prince’s song, “1999,” and, hopefully, when the customers took a bite out of the sandwich, they felt like they were partying like it was 1999.
8 The Olive What She’s Having Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 8, Episode 11)
One of the most iconic (and funniest) lines in When Harry Met Sally is “I’ll have what she’s having,” so it’s not surprising that the Olive What She’s Having Burger in Bob’s Burgers season 8, episode 11 is one of the show’s best. It’s simple because a burger with olives isn’t revolutionary, but the reference behind the pun is what makes it so hilarious. Meg Ryan would be proud.
7 The Stop Or My Mom Will Shoots Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 8, Episode 21)
The Stop or My Mom Will Shoots Burger (topped with pea shoots) from Bob’s Burgers season 8, episode 21, is a pun on Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. Like the Olive What She’s Having Burger, this one is simple, but it’s funny, given the matriarch in the animated series. Linda is eccentric and willing to do whatever means necessary to protect her family. So the patrons of Bob’s Burgers should laugh when they see the Stop of My Mom Will Shoots Burger, but they should also heed it as a warning.
6 One Flew Okra The Couscous Nest Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 9, Episode 21)
Seamless double puns are hard to come by in the real world, but for the Bob’s Burgers writers, they’re a piece of cake. The One Flew Okra the Couscous Nest Burger (came with okra and couscous) in Bob’s Burgers season 9, episode 21, rolls off the tongue and is amusing. It worked in many ways, and Bob was obviously feeling himself that day.
5 The ‘Shroom Where It Happens Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 10, Episode 14)
The ‘Shroom Where It Happens Burger from Bob’s Burgers season 10, episode 14 came five years after Hamilton premiered Off-Broadway, but the Hamilton craze will seemingly never fade. The special’s name refers to the song “The Room Where It Happens” from the musical, and it came with mushrooms. So not only would it attract theater nerds, but it also used “shroom” in the title, which is hilarious no matter the context.
4 Step Up 2: The Beets Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 11, Episode 17)
It’s evident that pop culture references are where Bob thrives in Bob’s Burgers, and who knew that the chef was a fan of the Step Up sequel, Step Up 2: The Streets? The Step Up 2: The Beets Burger (a hilarious name in itself) from season 11, episode 17, obviously came with beets. But hopefully, it was also served to customers alongside a choreographed dance.
3 You Cheddar Watch Out, You Cheddar On Rye Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 12, Episode 10)
Bob served up another fantastic double pun in Bob’s Burgers season 12, episode 10 — the You Cheddar Watch Out, You Cheddar On Rye Burger, which refers to the lyrics from “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” The episode was a Christmas special, so the restaurant needed a holiday-themed burger, and Bob knocked this one out of the park. It’s easy to understand, fun for the family, and amusing.
2 I’m Guacing Here Burger (Bob’s Burgers Season 13, Episode 7)
Firstly, a burger with guacamole sounds delicious, so the Burger of the Day in Bob’s Burgers season 13, episode 7, didn’t even need to be funny, but it was. The I’m Guacing Here Burger references the famous line “I’m walking here” from Midnight Cowboy, which has been repeated in many forms of media over the years and is always in a comedic context. So reading “I’m Guacing Here” on a chalkboard in a burger restaurant is bound to make anyone laugh.
1 Between A Broc & A Chard Place Burger (The Bob’s Burgers Movie)
The Bob’s Burgers Movie contained a handful of new Burgers of the Day, including the Between a Broc and a Chard Place Burger toward the film’s beginning. The special is a pun on the saying, “Between a rock and a hard place,” which alludes to the Belchers’ sinkhole predicament. So the Bob’s Burgers writers utilized a bit of dark humor to foreshadow what was to come in the feature film.
