All Lightsaber Fights In Ahsoka, Ranked – Armessa Movie News

[ad_1]

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for AhsokaStar Wars’ new Ahsoka show features a dynamic collection of exciting lightsaber duels. Thanks to Ahsoka’s impressive cast of lightsaber-wielding characters with heroes such as the titular Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and her apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), there are plenty of clashing lightsabers throughout. Likewise, the show features a strong trio of dark-side villains armed with lightsabers and more such as Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson), Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto), as well as the mysterious and helmeted Inquisitor known as Marrok.

Ahsoka takes place during the New Republic era. This means that the forces dark forces at play are not Sith in the conventional sense (despite the presence of lightsabers). In a similar vein, Ahsoka is a former Jedi struggling with her past while training Sabine to become a Jedi, herself a Mandalorian with her own challenging past. Likewise, Baylan and Shin are known as Dark Jedi rather than Sith, and Marrok was once an Imperial Inquisitor. Nevertheless, several of these characters wield Star Wars’ most recognizable weapons (so equivalents), so here are all of Ahsoka’s lightsaber fights ranked.

13 Ahsoka’s Space Battle (Honorable Mention)

As an honorable mention, Ahsoka’s lightsaber battle in Seatos’ orbit is impressive. Rather than having an opponent in the conventional sense to clash lightsabers with, Tano exits her T-6 Jedi shuttle to face the incoming fighters directly in the cold vacuum of space, blocking their blasts with her lightsabers. As such, the incredible feat in Ahsoka episode 3 is worth the list (even if it’s not a traditional lightsaber duel).

12 Sabine vs Shin Hati on Lothal

Sabine and Shin engage in a lightsaber fight in Ahsoka episode 1

Featured at the end of Ahsoka episode 1, Sabine defied Ahsoka’s wishes and took the star map back to her home at one of Lothal’s communications towers. Shortly after successfully unlocking the map and the location of the former Imperial leader Grand Admiral Thrawn, Sabine was attacked by HK assassin droids in the service of Lady Morgan Elsbeth, a Nightsister and ally of Thrawn’s seeking to bring him back to the known galaxy. Retrieving the lightsaber that once belonged to Jedi Ezra Bridger (who’s also missing), Sabine soon came face to face with Shin Hati, Baylan’s dark apprentice.

Although the two apprentices did indeed duel, their encounter was rather short. Sabine was still rusty due to her years out of practice wielding her lightsaber after Ahsoka ended her training. As a result, Shin was able to run her own lightsaber through Wren’s side after only a handful of strikes and parries, dominating the duel with an impressive amount of control before she left to deliver the star map to her master and Elsbeth. Sabine was hardly a challenge for her.

11 Ahsoka vs. HK Assassin Droids

Serving as Ahsoka’s first scene in her new Star Wars show, the former Jedi faces five of Morgan Elsbeth’s assassin droids at once at the Nightsisters’ stronghold on Arcana. Using the underground chamber below to her advantage, Tano cut the ground from beneath three of the droids before expertly handling the other two wielding their electro-staffs, using both her long and short-bladed lightsabers in tandem. Although the droids initiated a self-destruct after the first two’s defeat, Ahsoka likely could have taken them all down with her Jedi skills and years of experience.

10 Sabine & Ezra vs Shin and Night Troopers

As seen in Ahsoka episode 7, Sabine and Ezra Bridger have reunited while on the move with the group of nomad aliens known as the Noti. However, they’re quickly ambushed by a group of bandits, two squads of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Night Troopers, and Shin Hati. During the battle after the Noti circled their mobile hover-pod homes, Ezra chose to rely on the Force rather than take his lightsaber back from Sabine.

This led to a sequence where Ezra had to dodge strikes from Shin while using only the Force to block her attacks, not unlike Kylo Ren and Rey’s duel during The Rise of Skywalker. However, this did allow Sabine to provide some very exciting backup, using both her lightsaber and flamethrower to keep Hati back. Although the fight ended in a stalemate following Ahsoka’s arrival and Thrawn ordering his troops to retreat, Ezra’s lightsaber duel with Shin without having a lightsaber himself was quite impressive.

9 Ahsoka’s Second Duel With Marrok, The Imperial Inquisitor

Marrok and Ahsoka wielding their lightsabers in the Ahsoka series

Facing Marrok a second time on the world of Seatos, Ahsoka only wields one lightsaber, taking a more defensive approach against the former Imperial Inquisitor in Ahsoka episode 4. Trading strikes with Marrok before he begins to spin his double-bladed lightsaber, Ahsoka waits for the opportune moment as both warriors strike simultaneously. Tano emerges the victor with a cut across the Inquisitor’s chest, revealing the green smoke magik that had kept him alive presumably thanks to Morgan Elsbeth. However, the duel in its entirety was rather brief.

8 Sabine vs Shin on Seatos

While Ahsoka fought Marrok on Seatos, her apprentice Sabine fought Shin Hati for a second time. This time, Sabine was more confident with her lightsaber thanks to the continuation of her training. However, Shin was still the superior duelist, prompting Sabine to use her Mandalorian weapons to stand a chance and eventually escape. A truly exciting moment was the Mandalorian warrior tricking Shin with the confirmation that Sabine couldn’t yet wield the Force, instead firing her wrist darts while Shin’s guard was down.

7 Ezra and Sabine vs Death Trooper Zombies

Ezra and Sabine vs Death Trooper Zombies

While Ahsoka fought Morgan Elsbeth in Ahsoka episode 8, Sabine and Ezra made a run for Thrawn’s Star Destroyer which was quickly leaving Peridea. However, they were first attacked by two undead Death Troopers who’d been resurrected by the Nightsisters. This led to a dynamic conflict where Sabine and Ezra each fought a Death Trooper with Sabine successfully using the Force for the very first time. Having recovered her lightsaber with the Force, Sabine killed the zombified trooper with a perfect strike through the head.

6 Ahsoka’s First Duel With Marrok on Corellia

Ahsoka vs Marrok on Corellia

Ahsoka’s first duel with Marrok takes place on the world of Corellia. Aided by another assassin droid, the HK is easily cut to pieces by Ahsoka despite being engaged with Marrok, using both her white-bladed lightsabers to clash with his crimson blade. Even after the dark side foe ignited the second blade from his classic Inquisitors’ hilt, Ahsoka was clearly his equal, backflipping over the lightsaber as it was thrown and sensing its return as Marrok made his escape, moving just enough to dodge it. Never looking back, Tano proved her lack of fear in the second episode of Ahsoka (providing very high levels of “cool” factor).

5 Ahsoka’s Jedi Trio vs Night Trooper Zombies

Ahsoka Episode 8 Easter Eggs

Before Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine were all separated in Ahsoka episode 8, the Jedi trio fought Thrawn’s zombie Night Troopers, first when they were alive and then again after they were brought back as the undead by the Nightsisters’ Great Mothers. As such, seeing all three Jedi wielding lightsabers at the same time to strike troopers and deflect incoming blaster fire was visually stunning, especially when Ezra used the Force to pull two troopers right into Ahsoka’s waiting blades. Likewise, the dark resurrection with these zombie stormtroopers is quite momentous for the Star Wars canon overall.

4 Baylan vs Ahsoka on Peridea

Ahsoka and Baylan prepare to face one another in Ahsoka episode 7.

While Ezra and Sabine were facing Shin and Thrawn’s troops in Ahsoka episode 7, Ahsoka arrived on Peridea where she quickly drew her lightsabers to duel Baylan Skoll once more. However, both Baylan and Tano had other priorities, resulting in a stalemate after Ahsoka took Baylan’s mount to reunite with Ezra and Sabine. That being said, their duel was quite impressive despite its brief duration, especially with Ahsoka wielding both of her lightsabers rather than just the one she used on Seatos. The duel also saw Ahsoka admitting her doubt that she’d be able to actually defeat Baylan, though that wasn’t her ultimate goal in Ahsoka episode 7.

3 Ahsoka vs Morgan Elsbeth

Ahsoka Tano vs. Morgan Elsbeth in Ahsoka episode 8

As seen in Ahsoka episode 8, Morgan Elsbeth was blessed with new powers by the Great Mothers. This included being gifted with the Blade of Talzin which she used to face Ahsoka herself. Serving as the last duel of the Ahsoka series, the choreography on display as Morgan and Ahsoka dueled within and on top of the Nightsister temple was truly stunning. This was more than likely thanks to Inosanto’s martial arts background. Likewise, the duel culminated with Ahsoka’s epic defeat of Morgan as Thrawn’s zombified stormtroopers surrounded them.

2 Ahsoka vs Baylan Skoll on Seatos

Ahsoka Tano vs. Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka episode 4

Following Marrok’s defeat, Ahsoka dueled the Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll who was protecting the star map for Lady Morgan. Taking the time to size each other up, both Baylan and Ahsoka changed stances and tactics before the first blow was even struck in Ahsoka episode 4. Likewise, the contrast in combat between Ahsoka’s samurai-esque style and Baylan’s heavier strikes as more of a medieval knight made for one of the most dynamic lightsaber duels in Star Wars overall. However, Ahsoka was ultimately defeated by Baylan and forced off the side of a cliff into the oceans of Seatos below.

1 Ahsoka vs Anakin/Darth Vader

Ahsoka in the World Between Worlds next to Ahsoka vs Anakin

On the edge of life and death after facing Baylan, Ahsoka experienced a critical vision though the Force. This leads to a reunion with the spirit of her old master Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka episode 5 who had one last lesson to teach his Padwan. Igniting his lightsaber, Ahsoka and Anakin duel in what looks to be the Force nexus known as the World Between Worlds. To that end, Anakin’s prowess as a warrior is on full display, featuring several classic moves seen in the prequel trilogy.

After taking Ahsoka on a journey through her past during the Clone Wars, Anakin’s darker self as Darth Vader eventually emerges with his saber turning from blue to red, representing Ahsoka’s own fears of becoming all that her master became following his corruption to the dark side. Finding her conviction and a new drive to life as a Jedi, Ahsoka defeated Anakin before tossing her master’s lightsaber, refusing to kill him (while also mirroring Luke Skywalker’s duel with Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi). As such, it’s one of the most exciting duels Ahsoka has to offer.
