The Bachelor season 27 runner-up Gabi Elnicki shared whether she holds a grudge against Zach Shallcross after his betrayal on the reality dating competition show. Zach and Gabi had a very fun and loving relationship that went smoothly until Fantasy Suite week. Zach made a promise to himself not to be intimate with any of the women, but then broke his vow when he slept with Gabi. Feeling guilty about saying one thing and doing another, Zach told Kaity Biggar what happened. However, Gabi was upset because she felt that Zach broke her trust by broadcasting their intimacy to the world.
On Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Off the Vine podcast, The Bachelor’s Gabi Elnicki revealed that she hopes to some day let go of any resentment she feels toward Zach. She explained, “I’m not somebody that holds grudges towards people… I don’t hold anger.” However, she did admit that what hurt her was that he not only told Kaity about their intimacy, but he also revealed it to host Jesse Palmer and in all of his interviews. Although she wished that Zach left things to the imagination, she did want to give him some “grace and understanding” because she knew there was pressure for him to tell the secret to save his relationship with Kaity.
Bachelor’s Gabi Wants ‘What’s Best’ For Kaity
Gabi went on to say that she only wants “what’s best for Kaity.” She explained that she doesn’t think that Zach is a bad person, and that he didn’t mean to hurt her. She said that she is happy for him and Kaity. However, Gabi confessed, “Do I think I’m going to be, like, pals with Zach? No. Am I still angry and hurt? Absolutely. But he is going to hopefully marry one of my close friends and I plan to stay in Kaity’s life.” She added, “But I do think that, at this point, I still feel violated. And I’m still getting over all of it.”
Gabi and Kaity had one of the sweetest friendships in Bachelor history. During the finale, when Gabi exited the car in a puddle of mud, she even asked the driver not to do that to Kaity. It was an iconic moment of support and solidarity that is rarely seen between the final two women on the show. Gabi and Kaity have since been very supportive of each other on social media as well. Although it will be awkward for Gabi to be around her ex-boyfriend, her friendship with Kaity will be worth it.
Gabi has proven herself to be one of the most gracious contestants to ever appear on The Bachelor. In the face of embarrassment and rejection, Gabi maintained her dignity and accepted the outcome with respect for her friend Kaity. Gabi’s situation exposed how awkward the end of the show can be, especially when the runner-up feels that the lead has made up his mind early on. Although she knew that Zach was most likely not going to choose her, she held onto hope. Hopefully, Gabi will be able to remain friends with Kaity as she works toward moving past her relationship with Zach.
