Dave Bautista Confirms My Spy 2 Filming Wrap In Venice – Armessa Movie News

My Spy 2 star Dave Bautista reveals in a new social media post that filming on the sequel has now wrapped in Italy. My Spy was released in 2020, telling the story of CIA agent JJ (Bautista), who finds his skills tested when he’s sent to surveil precocious 9-year-old Sophie (Chloe Coleman) and her family. The movie, which is directed by Peter Segal, earned mixed to negative reviews from critics but was evidently enough of a viewership hit on Prime Video that a sequel was given the green light.

After revealing My Spy 2‘s filming window earlier this year, Bautista now takes to Instagram to reveal that filming on the sequel has wrapped.

The actor’s post, above, reveals that filming for the sequel, officially titled My Spy: The Eternal City, took place in Venice, Italy. Bautista’s image features him with both Segal and Coleman, with his caption calling the two collaborators “family.”

What To Expect From My Spy: The Eternal City

My Spy 2 is expected to follow JJ once more as Sophie convinces him to chaperone her school trip. While on the trip, JJ and Sophie find themselves tangled up in an international terrorist scheme targeting CIA Chief David Kim (Ken Jeong) and his son Collin, who also happens to be Sophie’s best friend. Beyond that, however, no other plot specifics have been revealed just yet.

In addition to the synopsis, some of My Spy 2‘s cast has also already been revealed. In addition to Bautista, Coleman, and Jeong, the sequel will also bring back Kristen Schaal as Bobbi, JJ’s tech-whiz sidekick. My Spy 2 is also adding several new characters into the mix. Although it’s unclear who exactly they will be playing, Anna Faris (Scary Movie, My Super Ex-Girlfriend), Flula Borg (The Suicide Squad, Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin), and Craig Robinson (This Is The End, The Office) have all been added to the cast.

Beyond that, much of My Spy: The Eternal City remains a mystery. In contrast to his disturbing and serious performance in Knock at the Cabin, Bautista is guaranteed to flex his comedy muscles once more in Segal’s upcoming sequel. While filming on My Spy 2 has now wrapped, it’s still unclear exactly when exactly the film will be released.
