Dragon Ball Super Has One Promise It Needs to Deliver: Turn Vegeta Evil Again – Armessa Movie News

Fans got an unexpected surprise when Dragon Ball Super set the stage for Vegeta to become evil again, but ever since then, the series has unfortunately missed numerous subsequent opportunities to follow through on this promise. With Frieza once again back in the game, Dragon Ball Super should explore this exciting development instead of pretending it never happened.

The Saiyan Prince first began displaying questionable behavior when fighting on planet Cereal against Granolah in chapter #74 of Dragon Ball Super. He underscored his joy in no longer having to worry about fighting on a planet that he had to protect and where he had to save others by destroying Cereal’s historical landmarks and taunting his opponent with that. Then, two chapters later, Vegeta physically attacked Goku when he wanted to interfere in his match, before expanding on his earlier confession to Granolah that because he wasn’t protecting Earth, he no longer had any reason to fight alongside his old rival and explained that he would rather die than do so ever again.

Vegeta’s Turn To Evil Could Have Been Dragon Ball Super‘s Best Plot

All these moments presented a promising look at Vegeta teetering on the edge before plunging back into the darkness of villainy. However, oddly, Vegeta began to act as though none of this ever happened. Later, Vegeta isn’t upset when Goku achieves a new form of Ultra Instinct even though he’s been surpassed once more. Instead, he reverts to the same disappointing defeatist mindset that he has espoused ever since Dragon Ball‘s Buu saga. More upsetting, Vegeta doesn’t seem very flustered when learns that Goku was likely so strong because of a wish made by his father to the Dragon Balls. After his evil “awakening” on planet Cereal, Vegeta should be more obsessed with surpassing Goku as enemies rather than friendly rivals.

Of course, eager fans can still dare to hope that Vegeta’s turn could happen soon. As of now, the manga is busy adapting the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film and, therefore, can’t stray too far from the original source material. But since Frieza finally returned at the end of the last arc, the next saga would be the best time to revisit Vegeta’s roots as a villain. It would be great to see Vegeta conflicted between his savage Saiyan nature and the desire to end his rivalry with Goku on one side, and his duty to protect Earth and his family on the other.

Dragon Ball Super Should Revisit Vegeta’s Darkest Moment

Vegeta doesn't care Trunks or Bulma got hurt

A possible way Dragon Ball Super could explore Vegeta’s descent would be to revisit one of his darker moments in Dragon Ball. Although he already had a family, Vegeta didn’t bother protecting his wife or his infant son during the Android saga when a blast from Android 20 shot the flying aircraft they were in out of the sky. Vegeta wasn’t even interested in checking to see if they were okay, all he cared about was testing his newfound Super Saiyan transformation. The arrival of Frieza on Earth could push the Saiyan Prince over the edge, and seeing Vegeta go back to his villain roots could be the best plot that Dragon Ball Super ever had.
