Players have a chance to grab some rare guns in Dead Island 2 when trying to complete the “Cold Pork” side quest by infiltrating a police station near the beaches of Hell-A. The NPC Trent gives this quest after mentioning how the survivors of the Blue Crab would fare much better against the undead with some extra firepower. Although the enemies at the station can be tricky to fight, the arsenal inside makes this mission more than worth the risk.

Before getting this quest, players have to finish the Venice Beach section of the game and defeat Moose and Dillon to progress the main story. Talking to Alex after taking down both these enemies lets players talk to Trent to start this mission. To prepare for the zombies swarming outside, players might want to take some extra time to find some of the best-starting weapons around the area before traveling to the station.

How To Complete the “Cold Pork” Side Quest

Once players fight their way to the police station, which they can easily locate by using their map, they can enter the building using a door on the right side as they approach. A couple of zombies from the bench and bathroom inside will try and attack, so players need to beat these former officers before they get the jump on them.

Two maglocks block the main interior of the station, but players can throw a weapon at the panel behind the gated window on their left to deactivate one of these obstacles. The second panel can be found above the door in the bathroom. Destroying this panel causes the door to open, giving players access to Jail Cell 02 and a reception room that holds both the Police Dept. Keycard and key to the cell.

Using the Jail Cell key leads players to a Disaster Relief Chest past the zombie inside, but the keycard is needed to progress further into the station. The last section of this place has two dead officer zombies for players to deal with before they can grab the Gun Case and rare weapon lying on the ground in this room. Located next to a ton of spare bullets, players must bring back the Gun Case to Trent at the Blue Crab to finish the side quest.

Rewards For Beating “Cold Pork”

The Disaster Relief Chest guarantees a random rare weapon, while the rare Assault Shotgun can be found in the same room as the Gun Case. Thankfully, no Apex Variants or extra powerful zombies to combat in Dead Island 2 block the player’s path back to the Blue Crab or in the depths of the police station. Trent will be more than happy that players tried to give the Blue Crab crew a fighting chance.

This gratitude comes with 3,000 XP and $500 for players to gain new abilities and spend money on better gear. Those who learn how to complete the “Cold Pork” side quest in Dead Island 2 will likely use these rewards immediately, as more Shamblers begin to spawn on the map when they finish this mission.
