In the Resident Evil 4 Remake, Leon and Ashley will find themselves trapped in the Castle where they are searching for a way to get rid of their infection. As they attempt to find Luis, they find themselves searching for several statue heads to open the door leading to their destination. The snakehead is in the dining hall, and Leon and Ashley must solve a puzzle in order to gain access to it.
The Resident Evil franchise is notorious for the complicated lock systems preventing characters from moving throughout the world freely. This is one thing that has not changed in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Leon will have to solve many puzzles throughout his journey to save the President’s daughter. In this case, Leon will have to utilize clues from his surroundings to solve the puzzle.
Choosing the Correct Place Setting in the Resident Evil 4 Remake
In the dining hall puzzle, the snake statue is behind a gilded cage toward the entrance of the room. In front of that are two tables with four place settings each, and then two large portraits hang at the end of the room, one featuring a male and the other a female.
At this point in the narrative, Leon and Ashley are attempting to reach Luis in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Ashley is a crucial part of solving this puzzle.
1. The Lady Portrait’s Solution
The lady in the portrait has a place setting with a napkin on the plate, two knives on one side, and a fork and a spoon on the other side. She has an extra plate that is clean and a wine goblet. The goal is to look for a matching place setting.
Go back to the table closest to the entrance. Facing the table from the entrance, the matching place setting should be at the seat on the upper right of that table. Order Ashley to sit in that seat, and then proceed to the second place setting.
The player must have Ashley take her seat first, as Leon will be unable to tell her where to sit once he has sat down.
2. The Lord’s Portrait Solution
The Lord’s portrait has a place setting with a napkin on his plate, three knives, two forks, and a spoon, a piece of bread on the smaller plate, and a giant jug next to an empty wine glass. Leon’s seat will be at the table furthest from the entrance, and it will be the seat at the upper left of that table.
Once Leon and Ashley have sat down, use the prompt to have Leon hit the bell. Ashley will automatically hit her bell as well, and the cage should lower its walls and Leon can pick up the snake head. There is no rush of enemies with this puzzle so Leon and Ashley are free to return to the main hall.
