DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn debunks rumors about Aaron Paul being cast in the DC Universe as an iconic hero, Booster Gold. A new DC Universe is in the works at DC Studios by Gunn and his co-CEO Peter Safran. Their goal is to create a cohesive shared universe, as they have several shows and films in development. One of the new DC Studios series coming up is Booster Gold, following the adventures of Michael Jon Carter.
Something Gunn has been doing since he got the DC Studios gig is debunking false reports. The latest rumor James Gunn tackled was a Reddit report that Paul was being eyed to play Booster Gold. Paul was also supposedly going to cameo in Blue Beetle before shooting the Booster Gold show.
While he is a fan of the Breaking Bad star, Gunn has not talked to Paul about playing the DC Universe icon. As of the time of this story’s publication, no official reports have emerged about any frontrunners for Booster Gold.
Everything We Know About DC Universe’s Booster Gold Show
There is currently no official Booster Gold creative team aside from Gunn as an executive producer. When Gunn and Safran announced the HBO Max series, they revealed that Booster Gold will tackle the futuristic hero with imposter syndrome. This is the second attempt at a Booster Gold DC TV show, as SYFY tried to make one with the Arrowverse’s Greg Berlanti. It remains to be seen what other DC Comics characters will be part of Booster Gold.
One iconic Booster Gold-related character that will likely appear is Carter’s robot partner, Skeets. As Carter comes from the future, Skeets is almost definitely going to be part of the HBO Max series. Since Blue Beetle will reportedly be part of the new DC Universe, Jaime Reyes could theoretically show up. The film has also even teased Ted Kord’s existence, as he is one of Booster Gold’s closest friends.
It’s unclear at this point where in the DC Universe slate Booster Gold will fall under in terms of release window. Given how popular Booster Gold is, this will be a major role for whoever lands the job. Hopefully, Gunn will have his Booster Gold lead sooner rather than later for the DC Universe.
