Kingsman 3 Filming Start Window Finally Confirmed By Matthew Vaughn After 6-Year Wait – Armessa Movie News

After leaving audiences hanging for the final chapter in Eggsy’s journey, Matthew Vaughn finally confirms Kingsman 3‘s filming start window. Based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novels of the same name, the spy movie franchise has centered on young British hooligan Gary “Eggsy” Unwin as he is recruited to join the secret independent intelligent agency, the Kingsman, to defend the world from a variety of major threats. Led by Taron Egerton and Colin Firth and helmed by Kick-Ass alum Matthew Vaughn, the movies have scored a range of mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, but have mostly been box office hits.

While hosting a special panel at New York Comic Con, of which Screen Rant was in attendance of, Vaughn offered a new update on the long-awaited Kingsman 3. The writer/director confirmed that the threequel, currently subtitled The Blue Blood, will finally begin filming in 2024 after years of delays and a focus on the poorly received prequel, The King’s Man. Next year we’re rebooting Kick-Ass and we’re making Kingsman 3… Kick-Ass sort of changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is at that time. So we’re doing it again. So it’s none of the characters from the other Kick-Ass. We’d like to bring them back after the reboot, but this reboot is just going off on a tangent that I really can’t talk about. But it’s fun.

Can Kingsman 3 Recapture The Original Movies’ Success?

Though critics were generally mixed in their reactions to the 2017 sequel The Golden Circle, anticipation has remained high for the arrival of Kingsman 3 among audiences, primarily as it was previously indicated that it would be the final movie to be led by Egerton as Eggsy. The Golden Globe winner himself even indicated this past April that he desired for the threequel to be a “fitting ending” for the character that helped his rise to stardom, and that while he is committed to coming back for the next installment, he wants to hold out until it’s the right story.

Vaughn has similarly remained dedicated to pushing ahead with the next movie, though one question surrounding the movie is whether it can recapture the success of the first two installments. The 2021 prequel, The King’s Man, put something of a damper on the franchise’s name as it became not only the lowest-reviewed of the three movies, but also a box office bomb, hitting theaters in the midst of theaters struggling to bring audiences back and only hauling in $126 million against its reported $100 million production budget.

While some sequels ultimately fail due to a longer gap between productions, Kingsman: The Blue Blood‘s various delays may actually be beneficial for its chances. Following the prequel’s failure, many audiences called for a return to the Eggsy-fronted stories, and Egerton’s further success outside of the franchise with the likes of Rocketman, Black Bird and Tetris, could prove his return to his star-making role as a welcome one for fans of the series. With Vaughn also eyeing to get his Kick-Ass reboot off the ground in 2024, it will be interesting to see which project takes priority for the filmmaker.
