Last Airbender Concept Art Shows 2 Decade Old Princess Yue Design – Armessa Movie News

Newly released Avatar: The Last Airbender concept art by Angela Song Mueller shows a two-decade old Princess Yue design with some missing features.

Newly released concept art from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender show includes the honored Princess Yue. The daughter of Chief Arnook, Yue starts her time in the show as princess of the Northern Water Tribe and quickly takes a liking to Sokka and Team Avatar. Having been blessed by the Moon Spirit as a sickly child, Yue eventually goes on to sacrifice herself to save the spirit of the Moon after a Fire Nation attack.

An Avatar: The Last Airbender artist, Angela Song Mueller, released 20-year-old concept art on Instagram that shows off some of the earliest iterations of Princess Yue.

The release comes after the news that Yue has joined the cast of Netflix’s adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and features an interesting detail, as the original Yue art lacks her trademark white hair. As Song wasn’t aware that Yue was meant to have white hair, early iterations lack that feature.

All The Avatar: The Last Airbender Projects Currently In Development

Avatar the Last Air Bender Older Aang

While Avatar: The Last Airbender concluded in 2008, there are still new spin-offs being developed today. The most prominent is Netflix’s live-action reboot of the series, which intends to follow Aang’s original adventures with Team Avatar in detail from his emergence from the iceberg to his fateful defeat of Firelord Ozai and Team Avatar’s victory over Azula. With a huge budget, Netflix can beat The Last Airbender‘s failings by creating a faithful and impressive adaptation.

Netflix’s show isn’t the only Avatar: The Last Airbender project currently being worked on. Nickelodeon is currently developing a movie that focuses on telling the life story of Aang as an adult. Though The Legend of Korra hinted at some of his adventures, the film will premiere in 2024 and will feature a grown-up version of Team Avatar long before Korra enters the picture.

A new animated show is also reportedly in development, focusing on the next Avatar after Korra. While news has not yet broken about what that character will look like or what their personality will be, it is likely to revolve around an earth-bender, given the next step in the Avatar Cycle. While the live-action Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender series will likely come long before the show hits screens everywhere, it is a great sign for the future of the franchise.
