RHOP Star Ashley Darby Addresses Colorism Criticism From Fans – Armessa Movie News

The Real Housewives of Potomac fans have been accusing members of the cast of being colorists and Ashley Darby is shutting down the claims.

Ashley Darby has had enough and is shutting down the colorism claims against The Real Housewives of Potomac cast. The colorism debate is not new to the Potomac franchise. Wendy Osefo and Candiace Dillard have addressed the topic in past reunions and on social media. But the colorism claims have mounted amid season 7 seeing that Wendy and Candiace (the two darker-skinned women on the cast) have somehow become the main targets.

Amid the criticism, Ashley decided to take to social media to address the claims and clear up any confusion. “So, I really hate that I have to say anything about this and that I have to address this, but it seems to have just gotten like way out of control,Ashley said in a video posted to her Instagram Stories, captured by Jay’s Reality Blog. “I am not a colorist. I know everyone wants to deem me that. They want to make all these accusations about me because of my own skin tone, but I don’t claim that because that’s not me.” The OG housewife went on to explain how she has had issues with everyone on the cast regardless of their skin tone and doesn’t take colorism claims lightly. “I always start at a hundred with people until you give me a reason to take it down,” she added.

Ashley “Cares” About Her Co-Stars and Doesn’t Discriminate

The topic seemed important to the Bravo star and Ashley went on to send a message to her co-stars confirming that she would never target anyone because of the color of their skin. “I still care about the women on this show and I hope that everyone — including them — knows that nothing that I will ever feel about you is because of your color of your skin,” she explained. When Jay’s Reality Blog shared the RHOP sneak peek, fans called out the “mean girl” behavior that was on display. “This devious mistreatment of Wendy and Candiace this season is so wickedly malicious and completely unwarranted.” one fan wrote. “I find no humor in this!!!! They playing #MeanGirls at this point!” another fan quipped. Ashley likely started receiving direct feedback from fans that prompted her video response.

Her comments come after the teaser for the upcoming episode following the girl’s trip to Miami shows Ashley plotting a shady scheme that would force only Wendy and Candiace into a shared room with one bed. The other ladies all appeared on board with the plan with Robyn Dixon even calling Wendy “the meanest” person in the group. Robyn has already been under fire for coming off as “aggressive” towards Wendy. Karen Huger even agreed with the criticism and said Robyn has been “very aggressive” with Wendy in what appears to be a “personal” issue against the Johns Hopkins professor. During Wendy’s season 5 debut, she addressed the colorism debate at the reunion saying the darker-skinned women on the cast are easily called “aggressive” compared to the light-skinned women.

However, season 7 is seeing more viewers call out Robyn for her history of being combative with certain cast members. Robyn and her Green-Eyed Bandit partner Gizelle Bryant are involved in much of the drama this season along with Ashley. Ashley, Gizelle, and even Mia Thornton have all made claims against Candiace’s husband Chris Bassett, making her a target. When it comes to Wendy, fans are confused as to what exactly she did to become a target, hence the colorism debate resurfacing. If The Real Housewives of Potomac is looking to dispel the rumors, they might want to spread the shade throughout the entire cast. All is fair in shade and housewives. Fans just don’t appreciate anything that comes off bias.
