Spider-Man 2 Removing One Of The First Game’s Best Suits Makes No Sense – Armessa Movie News

[ad_1]

Summary

  • The absence of one suit in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is frustrating, especially considering the inclusion of other Spider-Verse suits.
  • The game wasted an opportunity to combine Peter’s suit with the stylized frame rate from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
  • The exclusion of Peter B. Parker’s suit is a baffling decision in a game with a large lineup of suits and an otherwise definitive selection.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features an impressive lineup of suits for Peter Parker and Miles Morales, but one great option from the first game is bafflingly absent. Switching up styles is a great way to shake up the feeling of web-slinging, and a variety of styles from different sources across Spider-Man history make it easy to do so. The very best suits bring iconic looks to life in game with accuracy and panache, occasionally even utilizing different styles for lighting or animation to truly carry across the nature of their inspiration.

One major source of suit designs has been the variety of Spider-Man feature films with unique costumes. From the Webbed Suit of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy to the Stark Suit from the MCU, each major big screen incarnation has received some love. Although the hit animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse didn’t release until several months after the first game, The Silver Lining DLC ultimately added a tie-in suit that recreated the design worn by veteran Spider-Man Peter B. Parker in the film.

Peter B. Parker’s Suit Isn’t In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The Into the Spider-Verse Suit did a beautiful job of bringing Peter B. Parker’s look to life in Marvel’s Spider-Man, but the Peter suits in Spider-Man 2 seem to have left the design in the past. Instead, a suit from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales carries over under the same name, which unsurprisingly recreates the black-and-red design of Miles’ movie getup instead. Although this is certainly a welcome inclusion, it’s frustrating that both couldn’t have made it back in, as matching up the characters’ movie designs would have been a perfect payoff after previously seeing the suits separately.

Another fun feature that carries over from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a slowed frame rate for character animation to accompany the Spider-Verse suits, matching the 12 FPS animation that defines much of Miles’s movement in the first film. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 automatically applies this on the relevant suits and adds the option for Peter to use it as well, but it’s only relevant for a Spider-Man Noir suit he has from Into the Spider-Verse. It’s a shame that he has the Peter B. Parker suit in one game and the stylized frame rate in another, as seeing these two elements collide could be a lot more memorable.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has the biggest lineup of suits among any of the games, so there’s no shortage of great options for Peter and Miles. All the same, the size of the roster only makes the exclusion of the Peter B. Parker suit more frustrating, as it seems like an easy choice in the curation of a definitive selection. The Into the Spider-Verse suits that are available in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are perfect for fans of the excellent film, but the removal of one of the best ones is an ultimately baffling decision in a game that does so many things right.
