When it was announced that the doc would be released on October 13, the Blumhouse legacy sequel The Exorcist: Believer fled the weekend, moving its release a week earlier to avoid competing with the musical titan, who has had dazzling early box office projections coming from every corner.
Per Deadline, the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour box office raked in a strong opening day, though it was slightly below some of the most massive early projections. Its Friday gross reached an estimated $39 million, making it the second-best October opening day behind 2019’s Joker ($39.3 million). While this adjusts the 3-day gross to a more conservative range of $90 to $109 million (the most bullish projections had it opening at $150 million), the doc’s opening weekend will nevertheless outgross the openings of huge blockbusters including John Wick: Chapter 4 ($73.8 million) and Fast X ($67 million).
