There haven’t been much new The Expandable 4 updates recently, but the first poster for the movie was revealed at CinemaCon 2022 (via Max Blizz). The image features the ensemble of action stars seen in silhouette, promising one of the biggest casts of the franchise to date. While the line-up is impressive, Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone are put forth as the true leads, seemingly confirming that this movie will see Statham take over as the main protagonist of the series.
However, one famous face who will not be featured in the cast for The Expendables 4 is Jackie Chan. The action legend has been one of the few icons of the genre who has yet to appear. However, Chan revealed (via Vanguard) that he was approached by Stallone to appear in The Expendables 4 “but I said, ‘Sly, can’t we just do you and me? Not just a bunch of people and me only coming out for five minutes.’” While it is disappointing he won’t be in the movie, perhaps this means there will be a Stallone and Chan collaboration in the future.
The Expendables 4 Release Date
The Expendables 4 will be released on September 4, 2023. Following several delays and false starts, the movie was finally confirmed to be happening, and filming wrapped in late 2021. The movie is reportedly planned as the beginning of a new trilogy, taking the franchise in a new direction after rumors of a female Expendables spinoff.
The Expendables 4 Cast: Who Is Back & Who Is New?
The Expendables 4 updates that are most exciting is seeing what action stars will be joining the franchise for the new movie. Stallone will once again return as Barney Ross, the leader of the team, however, Stallone has confirmed that he will have a smaller role with Statham serving as the main focus as Lee Christmas. The sizzle reel reportedly showed off the action and cast of the movie without any clear hint about the movie’s plot.
