After nearly two months since The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released, the Nintendo film reached another massive milestone. It was reported that The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now the 20th highest-grossing film of all time with a recorded gross revenue of $1.278 million.

According to Box Office Mojo, just above it is Disney’s Frozen, with a recorded gross earning of $1.290 million and previously peaked at number 5. The Super Mario Bros. Movie took over Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, which had a recorded gross earning of $1.263 million. Needless to say, while this is a huge achievement for the film, it’s going to take a while if it wants to become number one.

As of writing, the top five films that dominate the highest-grossing charts are Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of the Water, Titanic, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. These films earned a worldwide gross of over $2 billion, with the first Avatar film just $100 million away from $3 billion. Fortunately, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is still showing in theaters so there is a chance that it could catch up.

Despite its massive success, The Super Mario Bros. Movie earned an average rotten score of 59 percent from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the film was praised by fans and received an average score of 96 percent. At the same time, the song ‘Peaches,’ performed by Jack Black, made it to the Billboard charts and could be eligible for an Oscar Nomination.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will soon hit the physical home media market around June 6, 2023. In the meantime, the film’s official website stated that it is now available to purchase on Prime Video, Microsft Store, and Apple TV. It’s currently unknown when the film will hit streaming platforms.
