Mortal Kombat: Special Forces could work as a spin-off movie, as it follows Jax as he attempts to find and bring down the Black Dragon, a fearless and brutal crime syndicate that is hired around the world to steal supernatural artifacts. Though it’d be more of a thrilling espionage flick, it would still have that distinct Mortal Kombat tone, as it’d still be full of vulgar one-liners, comedy violence, and way over-the-top fatalities.

Jax was already introduced in the 2021 movie, and the Black Dragon has already been hinted at too. Kano is the leader of the Black Dragon, and Kabal was his right-hand man, which is why they knew each other in Mortal Kombat. Kano and Kabal are the two funniest and most entertaining characters in the reboot, and a Mortal Kombat: Special Forces movie would be a great vessel for more of that buddy-comedy material. As Kabal and Kano both died in 2021’s Mortal Kombat, an adaptation of the video game would be an easy way to bring back the fan-favorite characters.
