Wakanda Forever Is Expanding Black Panther’s World Even Further – Armessa Movie News

An upcoming one-shot focused on Black Panther and Wakanda will expand the stories of the country’s heroes next February. Marvel Voices: Wakanda Forever will be the next installment in the one-shot line focused on celebrating characters’ heritage and history. Announced at New York Comic Con, the newest addition will continue expanding the line and celebrating diversity in comics.

Since 2020, Marvel has been publishing Marvel Voices. These one-shots often come out during cultural heritage months like Black History Month, AAPI Heritage Month, Pride Month, and Hispanic Heritage Month. Inspired by the podcast of the same name, these comics present original stories and art from Own Voices creators in the industry.

The announcement from Marvel was provided at New York Comic Con, giving Marvel Voices its own official panel for the first time. The one shot will star Black Panther, Okoye, and Shuri, as well as other Wakandans. Already the main cover and a variant cover for the issue have been revealed, though included creators have yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, Marvel is promising “fan-favorite creators and talent fresh to the Marvel Universe”, which means new artists and voices to look forward to. As may be expected per previous patterns, this one-shot will be available in February 2023, in time for Black History Month.

Black Panther’s Family Takes Over Marvel’s Voices

Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski says:

Ever since we first started bringing Marvel’s Voices into our comics back in 2020, it’s been so inspiring to see our stories grow and evolve, bringing up a fantastic lineup of new characters and creators. Looking ahead to 2023, we’re excited to expand the anthology series to broaden our focus on characters and families, giving our writers, editors, and readers more stories and more characters in the grand tradition of MARVEL’S VOICES.

Five years following the introduction of the podcast and in-depth insight with creators, Marvel is continuing its focus on “highlighting the richness that makes up the Marvel Universe.” The line has allowed fans to not just see characters that sometimes don’t get the same spotlight as other Marvel heroes, but also to enjoy stories from creators they’ve never heard from before. These one-shots have been a great way to showcase creators’ voices and to amplify diverse storytelling. Typically, Black History Month sees the release of Marvel Voices: Legacy, which has had an annual edition for the past three years. However, Marvel seems to be shifted to a family dynamic this coming year by putting more focus on Wakanda specifically.

The home of Black Panther has seen an increase in popularity and interest since the release of the film Black Panther, which is likely to continue once its sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases next month. It seems highly likely that Marvel is counting on the film, the familiarity of the inspiring line, and the fictional country’s rise in popularity to play a part in helping the book reach readers. This is a new approach to the Voices line, which could leave out popular characters like Miles Morales and Storm, among others. Nonetheless, a Wakanda-centric special is very exciting and will be an interesting way to let more creators explore the location and its inhabitants. Black Panther’s home will shine when Marvel Voices: Wakanda Forever releases in February 2023.
