Indian Matchmaking season 3 star Aashay Shah clearly made a great impression on the Sima Taparia-helmed show, for many good reasons. One of the most talked about reality TV shows on Netflix returned in 2023, with a new cast and old favorites like Aashay and Viral Joshi. The 37-year-old New York City resident Aashay moved to the U.S. when he was 12 years old. Sima introduced Viral, a 32-year-old pharmaceutical developer from Durham, to Aashay, who is a Doctor of Optometry. Viral and Aashay’s first rock climbing date was anything but rocky, and they ended up together.
When Indian Matchmaking star Viral saw Aashay, it was love at first sight. “Oh my God, he’s so cute, his hair is great,” Viral gushed about Aashay to the cameras after meeting him. Viral’s parents also took an instant liking to Viral. They were blown away by the fact that he could read and write Gujarati. Perhaps the only thing that rubbed Viral the wrong way about Viral was his tardiness, but she confessed that when Aashay sat in front of her and told a joke, she couldn’t stay mad. Viral developed, “strong feelings” for Aashay in Indian Matchmaking season 2.
Perhaps the only successful Indian Matchmaking couple introduced by Sima Aunty, Aashay and Viral appear to be made for each other, and straight out of a fairytale. The first time that Viral disappointed Viral was on their fifth date, because he was late. He made it up to her by joking that he would pick her up in a chariot (and serenade her) next time.
During the same outing, he told Viral that he felt like he knew her for much longer, and complimented her smile and eyes. Aashay cutely tricked Viral into hugging him by asking her if she was cold. Of course, Aashay made the ultimate Bollywood hero move by gifting Viral a Rs. 20 lakh bracelet, without her even asking for it.
Indian Matchmaking’s Viral Is Picky, But Chose Aashay
“The only red flag is that there is no red flag yet,” Viral admitted after she met Aashay. It all started with him ticking all the boxes on her “right man” checklist. He is self-made, family-oriented, and fluent in Gujarati. Aashay being, “smarter” than Viral also made him instantly attractive. During their first date, they planned a future cruise in Alaska, and bonded over food. The, “cautiously optimistic” Viral claimed that Aashay could open her up to a whole different world. Viral and Aashay have enough to common to have a solid relationship, but are different enough to keep things, “spicy and interesting.”
Indian Matchmaking’s Aashay Doesn’t Hide His Feelings
What’s really impressive about Aashay is now he’s not one to hide his true feelings towards Viral. He’s less reserved than some of his peers on Indian Matchmaking. Aashay was honest when he told Viral about his previous long-distance relationship, and how his experience would help him as a Brooklyn man dating a woman from North Carolina.
Aashay praised Sima by saying, “Good job Auntie, I’m really impressed. I’m very impressed with your choice.” These qualities made Viral declare that Aashay was everything she was looking for, a, “ten out of ten.” Within six months of dating, Indian Matchmaking celeb Aashay had already said “I love you” to Viral, and admitted that he hadn’t, “really felt like this for anyone else, in a long time.”
