There are eighteen memories to be collected in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While most of them will be found by completing The Dragon Tears quest, others will only be available after reaching certain points in the story. Meaning that acquiring all the memories will be one of the most time-consuming tasks in the game.

The memories have a chronological order that they go through, but they do not necessarily have to be collected in this order unless players don’t want to be spoiled on aspects of the story. So, for example, the first memory that Link collects will be given to him almost immediately, as it is the opening cutscene that showcases what happens to the Master Sword in Zelda: TOTK.

How To Unlock The Dragon Tear Memories in Zelda: TOTK

All eighteen memories will be linked to a quest in one form or another. Though most of the quests will automatically trigger the cutscene related to their memory upon completion, The Dragon Tears are slightly different. There are twelve Dragon Tear memories out of eighteen, and unfortunately, these must all be individually found. Luckily, however, Link will have a guide to follow, and they’re not hard to track down. To start The Dragon Tears quest, Link needs to speak to Cado near the New Serenne Stable in Zelda: TOTK, who will then direct him to Impa, who will introduce Geoglyphs and give Link the associated quest.

Impa will then direct Link to the Forgotten Temple in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and once there, he will find a map laying out all the Geoglyphs in Hyrule. Unfortunately, technically, there is no way to save this information, so be sure to screenshot it either on the switch itself or use Link’s camera on the Purah Pad to take a picture. The latter is recommended as it will be easiest to access in-game. Additionally, for those that want to complete the Geoglyphs in order, be sure to take pictures of the walls surrounding the map, which will showcase each of the Geoglyphs in chronological order.

It is highly recommended that players attempt to at least collect the Dragon Tear memories in order, as the later ones will contain major plot points that some may consider spoilers if they collect them first.

Where To Find All Eighteen Memories in Zelda: TOTK

1	Trail of the Master Sword	The Master Sword’s Power	This memory is acquired after defeating the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon inside the Deku Tree Chasm in Zelda: TOTK. Speak with the Deku Tree to receive it. Link must have unlocked the Korok Forest to start this quest.
2	Crisis At Hyrule Castle	The Awakening	There is no way to find this memory, as it is the one that triggers the beginning of the entire game when the Demon King awakens in the opening cutscene. Therefore, all players will automatically have this.
3	The Dragon Tears	Where Am I?	Rauru Geoglyph – this tear is located near Rauru’s left eye.
4		An Unfamiliar World	Rauru and Sonia’s Castle Geoglyph – In the dead center towards the top.
5		Mineru’s Counsel	Purah Pad Geoglyph – In the center circle, there will be three tears at the top. It is the middle one.
6		The Gerudo Assault	Molduga Geoglyph – It will be covered with trees, but it is right in the top left where the Molduga’s tail begins to curve over.
7		A Show of Fealty	Ganondorf Geoglyph – This one is on the side of a mountain, but the tear will be on a ledge right at the top of Gandolf’s shoulder.
		Zelda and Sonia	Sonia Geoglyph – On the right side of the Glyph in her hair. There will be a large swirl towards the bottom; it is just above it, underneath the smaller swirl of hair.
9		Sonia Is Caught By Treachery	Scimtar Geoglyph – On the far left of the crossguard. Which will be the right side when looking from the perspective of the map.
10		Birth of the Demon King	Demon King Geoglyph – On the far left amidst the hair.
11	Crisis At Hyrule Castle	The Demon King’s Army	After completing the Regional Phenomena quest, talk to Purah in Lookout Landing in Zelda: TOTK, who will lead Link to Hyrule Castle. The memory will be obtained after defeating the required enemies there.
12	The Dragon Tears	The Sages’ Vow	Secret Stone Geoglyph – Where the stone caves in on the left, go straight across to the curve on the opposite side to find the memory.
13	The Dragon Tears	A King’s Duty	Sonia’s Headstone – On the far left, it will be in the highest part of the flowers.
14	Guidance of Ages Past	The Imprisoning War	Received automatically at the end of the Guidance of Ages Past Quest in Zelda: TOTK. Link will be led to this location by a marker on his map.
15	The Dragon Tears	A Master Sword in Time	Master Sword Geoglyph – The blade tip will be at the top of a large peak. The Tear is at the very top.
16	Guidance of Ages Past	Critical Decisions	Received automatically at the end of the associated quest. Link will be led to this location by a marker on his map.
17	The Dragon Tears	Tears of the Dragon	This memory will be marked on Link’s map as an objective point once all the other tears have been collected and the scene showing the Light Dragon in Zelda: TOTK has finished.
18	Recovering The Hero’s Sword	Zelda’s Wish	This memory will be automatically retrieved once Link successfully pulls the Master Sword in Zelda: TOTK. The Master Sword will be found on top of the Light Dragon, which is constantly moving, but finishing the quest will mark its location, making it easier to find.

Once all the memories are collected, Link may look back on them at any point by opening up the Purah Pad and going over to the Adventure Log tab. At the bottom of the quest, lists will be a collection where the memories can all be found. Each one will have a little image indicator and can be replayed at any time. They will also have a brief description that explains what is being showcased in the memory for those looking for a little more clarity. Link may now continue on his journey to complete his final tasks in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with all his newfound information.
