Excitement for Netflix’s The Witcher has never been lower after Henry Cavill’s abrupt departure from the series, but there are 10 massive fights to look forward to in season 4 of the show and beyond, for those who are still determined to see it through. The Witcher initially did very well, and for a time, it seemed like the world’s next big fantasy series. Unfortunately, the show stalled out in its second season, and after lead actor Henry Cavill announced his intention to leave the show because of creative differences, its viewership dipped dramatically.

Even so, The Witcher maintains a fair number of dedicated fans, and those who choose to stand by the series until the end will be rewarded with some epic fight scenes. The Witcher is now approaching the meat of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel series, meaning there are loads of big moments coming soon. Only those who stick around will find out if any of The Witcher‘s characters can defeat Vilgefortz, and if that’s not incentive enough to keep watching, there are 10 more epic fights and battles to be enjoyed before the series concludes.

10 Geralt Fights Vilgefortz

Although Geralt couldn’t defeat Vilgefortz in their first duel, he will get another chance before The Witcher concludes. This is easily the most climactic fight in the action-packed Witcher book series, and whatever season of The Witcher it ends up happening in, it’s certain to be one of the best fights in the show as well. Geralt should have the help of a magical amulet in his next fight with Vilgefortz, which will make the contest much more competitive. This fight will determine the fate of the world as Geralt strives to stop Vilgefortz from gaining control of Ciri’s incredible power.

9 Leo Bonhart Fights The Rats

Kayleigh in The Witcher season 3.

Leo Bonhart is one of the characters who should be introduced in The Witcher season 4, and his lopsided encounter with The Rats should be one of the most brutal fight scenes in the show. Bonhart is a bounty hunter sent to track down Ciri, and he is easily one of the deadliest swordsman in The Witcher‘s world. In the books, Bonhart gets wind of a flaxen-haired girl joining the gang, causing him to lure The Rats to the town of Jealousy where he brutally kills all of them. This should be one of the best fights in the show as it introduces Bonhart’s deadly skill with a blade.

8 Ciri Fights Skellen’s Gang On A Frozen Lake

One of the most chilling scenes in the Witcher book series comes when Ciri fights Stefan Skellen’s gang of cronies on the surface of a frozen lake. The lake is covered in a thick layer of fog at the time, and Ciri smartly puts on an old friend’s ice skates, riding through the fog to cut down Skellen’s men one by one. Those who do not fall to Ciri’s blade are forced to flee as their companions are cut down all around them. If done right, this could turn out to be one of the best scenes in The Witcher.

7 Ciri Fights Leo Bonhart

Ciri does her best to resist Leo Bonhart at every opportunity, but the gaunt bounty hunter always seems to get the best of her. That is, until their fateful encounter at Stygga Castle. Ciri uses all of her Witcher training in this desperate struggle with Bonhart, ultimately using one of the first techniques she ever learned to come out victorious. This fight is the culmination of Ciri’s entire arc as it forces her to dig deep and use her relentless spirit and the lessons she learned from Geralt to save herself and defeat Bonhart.

6 The Battle For The Bridge

The Battle for the Bridge is another epic encounter fans can look forward to in The Witcher season 4. This fight between the Nilfgaardian forces and the guerrilla resistance from Lyria and Rivia occurs on a bridge that crosses the mighty Yaruga River. Geralt and his companions end up caught in the middle of it as their riverboat is passing through, and with no other options left to them, they join the fight against Nilfgaard. Geralt fights like someone possessed in this battle, using the close quarters on the bridge to take down dozens of soldiers and turn the tide of the battle single-handedly.

5 The Battle Of Brenna

Nilfgaard's Army from The Witcher.

The Battle of Brenna is the deciding battle in the Second Northern War, and though none of the series’ main protagonists participate, it is told in detail in Sapkowski’s novels from the perspectives of several minor characters, most of them medics. This confrontation pits two of The Witcher‘s best battle commanders, Menno Coehoorn and John Natalis, against each other as they seek to win the war for their respective sides. Natalis’s brilliance ultimately carries the day for the Northern Realms, leading to the end of the war and the Peace of Cintra.

4 Geralt & Ciri Fight To Escape Stygga Castle

Geralt and Ciri in The Witcher

After winning their fateful duels in Stygga Castle, Geralt and Ciri attempt to leave the accursed place, only to find their path blocked by a contingent of Stefan Skellen and Vilgefortz’s soldiers. Exhausted, broken, and numb, Geralt and Ciri fight their way down the steps of the castle, stepping through pools of blood as they mechanically cut down the soldiers. This scene is emotionally heavy as the two heroes defeat their enemies, only to find out Emhyr has arrived with an army at his back, trapping them there anyway.

3 Yennefer Fights Vilgefortz

The Witcher season 1 finale Yennefer at the Battle of Sodden Hill

Yennefer’s duel with Vilgefortz has the potential to be one of the best scenes in The Witcher. This fight pits the two strongest mages on the continent against each other in a struggle for dominance. Although Yennefer is probably the second-strongest mage in The Witcher, she really isn’t anywhere near Vilgefortz’s level, and the result of this duel reflects that fact. Even so, The Witcher is likely to make their fight a bit more even than it is in the books, which could make this the most epic duel in the series.

2 Ciri Fights Skellen’s Henchmen In Dun Dare

Ciri wielding a sword with Geralt and Jaskier behind her in The Witcher season 3

In The Witcher books, Emhyr’s imperial coroner, Stefan Skellen, sets a small group of trusted soldiers to sit in the town of Dun Dare and look out for the arrival of Ciri. They are meant to capture or kill her, but Ciri finds the men first, and a lopsided fight ensues. Ciri slaughters all four of them in an epic duel, using her sword skill and superior agility to take them down one by one. This fight could be a big moment in The Witcher as Ciri learns to trust that she can look after herself and sends a warning to others that she is not to be taken lightly.

1 Cahir Fights Leo Bonhart

Cahir in The Witcher season 3, episode 6

Although Cahir’s attempt to take down Leo Bonhart does not last long in the books, The Witcher could turn this into a much more competitive duel considering Cahir was able to match Vilgefortz in season 1. If Cahir is really that good and his fight with Vilgefortz was not just poor planning from The Witcher‘s writers, then this could be an incredible fight. Bonhart is probably the best non-magical or mutated swordsman in The Witcher‘s world, and if Cahir can take down Vilgefortz, then he must be up there as well, so this should be an entertaining fight.
