Fans React To Bo-Katan’s Takeover Of The Mandalorian Season 3 – Armessa Movie News

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 6.

Star Wars fans are reacting to Bo-Katan’s takeover of The Mandalorian season 3 with hilarious Barbie and Ken comparisons. Though The Mandalorian season 3, episode 6 “Guns for Hire” was mostly a side-quest that had little to do with the show’s main plot, its final minutes were extremely important for the stories of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackoff). Now that Din pointed out a loophole that could grant Bo-Katan the Darksaber, he no longer wields the blade that can unite Mandalore.

Bo-Katan wielding the Darksaber at the end of The Mandalorian season 3, episode 6 is leading to memes about how great Bo-Katan has been throughout the season, whereas Din Djarin has just been… Din Djarin.

The latest The Mandalorian season 3 episode comes less than a day after the Barbie movie kicked off its marketing campaign, with posters celebrating all the things Barbies are great at while the Kens are just Kens. The Mandalorian giving up the Darksaber and offering it to Bo-Katan, while technically within the rules of the Mandalorian Creed, adds to the perception that Din has been a supporting character during the events of The Mandalorian season 3.

Is The Mandalorian Season 3 Focusing Too Much On Bo-Katan?

Whereas The Mandalorian season 2 was about finding Grogu’s place in the Star Wars galaxy, The Mandalorian season 3 has been about retaking Mandalore. As a result, it is natural to have Bo-Katan Kryze take a central role in The Mandalorian season 3, as she is far more experienced and knows way more about Mandalore than Din Djarin. In terms of Star Wars canon, Bo-Katan also has a longer history than Mando, as the former first appeared during Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

By the time Din Djarin was introduced in The Mandalorian season 1, those who are familiar with the Star Wars universe had already followed Bo-Katan throughout several key arcs in both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. In addition, The Mandalorian’s title promises a show about a Mandalorian or even multiple Mandalorians, not necessarily Din Djarin. That said, Din Djarin is still The Mandalorian’s main character, and Bo-Katan’s arc is part of Mando’s journey.

The Mandalorian season 3 could have gone for the easy house route of pairing Din Djarin against Bo-Katan Kryze, especially after The Mandalorian season 2’s ending. Instead, the Star Wars show cleverly subverted expectations and combined Bo-Katan’s experience with Din Djarin’s recent feats in a way that makes audiences care for the overall Mandalore plot. With only two episodes left in The Mandalorian season 3, it will be interesting to see where the stories of Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze go next.

New episodes of The Mandalorian release Wednesdays on Disney+.
