Good Omens Season 2 Reportedly Adds David Tennant’s Family Members – Armessa Movie News

Good Omens season 2 is seemingly becoming a family affair, with David Tennant’s son and father-in-law both reportedly joining the cast. Based on the 1990 comedy novel penned by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Good Omens season 1 followed Tennant’s demon Crowley and his angelic friend Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) as they attempted to prevent the rise of the Antichrist and the coming of Armageddon. Originally intended to be a limited series, Prime Video eventually greenlit season 2 in 2021 due to the show’s popularity and critical acclaim.

Now it would seem that Tennant’s Crowley is set to be joined by some familiar faces, with RadioTimes.com reporting that the actor’s family members Ty Tennant and Peter Davison are each set to assume their own roles in Good Omens season 2. The publication notes that their CVs have their parts listed. Tennant’s son and House of the Dragon star Ty Tennant has been cast as a character named Ennon, while Tennant’s father-in-law and former Doctor Who star Davison will play a character named Alistair. At this stage, little else is known about either’s part in the new season.

What We Know About Good Omens Season 2

This latest piece of casting news comes on the heels of Gaiman recently confirming that Good Omens season 2 is due to be handed into Prime Video “very soon.” While no official release date has yet been announced, it is expected that Good Omens season 2 will arrive on screens at some point during the summer. If season 2 is to follow on from the precedent set by season 1’s original release, it may drop sometime during May or June this year.

Given that the story of Good Omens season 1 closely followed the original book to its intended conclusion, there is no currently indication of what route season 2’s plot might take. While Gaiman and Pratchett had roughly outlined a potential sequel to their book, dubbed 668—The Neighbour of the Beast, Gaiman has confirmed that those ideas will not be the storyline for Good Omens season 2. Instead, he intimated that it “will be Season 3 if we get there.”

What is clear, however, is that not all actors from season 1 will be returning. Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Frances McDormand, who previously provided the voices of Satan and God, have already confirmed they will not be reprising their roles in this new season. Meanwhile, some returning cast members, including Nina Sosanya and Maggie Service, will play entirely new characters in season 2. With Ty Tennant and Davison now being reported as part of the changing cast, it will be interesting to see what Gaiman and his team have planned for Good Omens season 2.
