The titles of the Harry Potter books are known to be very wordy, and tend to drop hints about what is contained within their pages. While we may not have ever gotten any proper insight about the process J.K. Rowling undertakes when naming these books, fans took it upon themselves to come up with possible rejected ideas that could have become “official” names for the books in the franchise.
Some fans have come up with interesting ideas that were somewhat in the spirit of the original titles. They have decided to make them longer and more convoluted, with some using the original titles as inspiration, while others altered them in one way or another to make them sound more hilarious than they were previously.
Meanwhile, others have referenced J.K. Rowling’s controversies as a source of inspiration for these rejected Harry Potter book titles. After all, Rowling has a way with words, not to mention some confirmation that Hermione was based on the author herself. So using Rowling as inspiration for potential book titles was on the table.
Others suggested the book titles explore other characters in the Harry Potter franchise. Who were the Dementors, really? What happened to Dudley during Harry’s wizarding adventures? Could we have explored more of Severus Snape’s ongoing affection for Lily Potter, despite her death? Who knows.
But let’s be real, nothing could beat Time Magazine‘s effort from 2007 when it came up with six amazing ideas for Harry Potter’s next book installments. Who wouldn’t want to read a Harry Potter book where the International Confederation of Wizards Quidditch Committee was caught in a sports cheating scandal? Or how the Ministry of Magic would have to work with the muggle world to save the planet from global warming?
While there are no plans to release more Harry Potter books, perhaps this hashtag could serve as inspiration for Warner Bros. when naming the upcoming Max reboot of the franchise. The planned Harry Potter adaptation is said to be produced in an episodic format, where each season covers each of the books. A release date has yet to be announced, but it would be funny if producers took some of the ideas made by fans and turned them into official episode names, as silly as they are.
