All Versions Of NBA 2K24 Release On September 8, 2023
NBA 2K24 will be released worldwide on September 8, 2023, for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Pre-orders, including for limited-time special editions of 2K24, are available now. This year will also be the 25th anniversary of the NBA 2K games and therefore a special Anniversary Edition of the game will be made available for a limited time that offers numerous extras in the game as well as a 12-month subscription to the NBA League Pass streaming service. This Anniversary Edition will be available everywhere except Belgium. One of the most heavily advertised new features for NBA 2K24 is crossplay, though it is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. This has been a heavily requested feature for many years now, particularly with the sports genre’s heavy multiplayer gaming influence. NBA 2K has released a series of YouTube trailers announcing the feature, but without any examples of gameplay yet. Cross-platform multiplayer will work for all game modes on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles but will be limited to those systems only.
NBA League Pass For NBA 2K24
Players who purchase the NBA 2K24 25th Anniversary Edition will receive a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass to give them on-demand streaming service access to watch NBA games for the entire season. Typically, the service costs between $15-20 USD per month, and therefore having 12 months included with the Anniversary Edition of the game is a great deal for basketball fans. This subscription service to NBA League Pass is not available in Japan, China, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Libya, Kosovo, North Korea, Russia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, or Syria.
NBA 2K24’s MyCAREER Story
NBA 2K24 has not released many details yet regarding the story for the MyCAREER mode, other than that it will be set in a tropical setting this time. Players will start off as rookies and learn through practice and dedication to gain the skills they need to work their way up to the Basketball Hall of Fame. The story is said to be an immersive one where players can truly take on the role of a fledgling player and experience the demands placed on young stars and the challenges that must be overcome to join the ranks of the best basketball players.
ProPLAY Technology For A More Immersive NBA 2K
NBA 2K24 introduces a brand-new technology that 2K is calling ProPLAY. Using ProPLAY, actual NBA footage will be brought into the game for realistic animations and movements on the basketball court. The graphical leap will give players a more immersive feel similar to the HyperMotion2 feature EA Sports used in FIFA 23. Better authenticity and realism are expected with this technology, showing animations and movements that will mimic their real-life counterparts in the NBA and provide a more in-depth simulation experience for players. Unfortunately, due to the system requirements for ProPLAY, this new tech will only be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game.
