Neil Gaiman sets out his approach to developing Good Omens season 3 in a firm message for those asking about the next chapter’s story. The Prime Video series is an adaptation of Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel that follows an unlikely relationship between a devoted angel and a demon with a softer side. Good Omens stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley during their lives on Earth as they’re caught up in ethereal conflicts, potential apocalypses, and the woes of everyday romances.

Recently, Gaiman took to his Tumblr to lay boundaries between fans and his writing process for a potential Good Omens season 3. Stating that he is keen on keeping plot points to himself until it airs, the author politely affirmed he will reveal nothing about the next chapter, nor take on any ideas or suggestions viewers may have for their own ideal story. That’s right. I didn’t. I spent several years going “wait and see”. And you waited and you saw.

I’m not going to reveal any of the plot of Season 3, either. So there’s really no point in asking me to make things happen, or to tell me what you do or you don’t want to happen. I’m not going to.

Good Omens’ Season 3 Status Has Fans’ Minds Running Wild

While Good Omens season 3 has yet to be confirmed by Prime Video, Gaiman has made it clear he has more story to tell. However, progress on the writing for a potential season 3 was placed on hold during the Writers Guild of America’s 2023 strike action, where Gaiman put down his pen and joined other members of the guild in a campaign for greater compensation and workplace assurances. With the strike concluding after 148 days, Gaiman has since returned to developing a new season, though no official renewal announcement has been made.

As the Good Omens season 2 ending featured a shock separation and a surprise cliffhanger, many are still left with questions about what happens next. While the confirmation of Aziraphale and Crowley’s true feelings for one another was rendered bittersweet by the angel taking a new role in Heaven, the Metatron’s mention of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ revealed another cataclysmic, world-altering event is on the horizon. Aziraphale and Crowley only narrowly averted the apocalypse through their bond, so it remains to be seen if they will do so again despite their falling out.
