The HBO original historical drama was created by Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame. Set in the booming socio-political and cultural era of the late 1800s in New York City, on the verge of major transition, The Gilded Age tells the story of the titular period. It explores the lives of the influential upper class of the city. The story follows a young Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) who moves from rural Pennsylvania to the big city to live with her two affluent and estranged aunts, Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Cynthia Nixon). Without even realizing it, Marian soon gets entangled in a social war between Agnes and their wealthy and ruthless neighbors, Bertha (Carrie Coon) and George Russell (Morgan Spector).
