Willow Season 2: Everything We Know – Armessa Movie News

The Willow season 2 updates have put into question if fasn will get to see more of this story. As the sequel to Ron Howard’s 1988 fantasy film of the same name, Willow similarly follows the titular dwarf, played again by Warwick Davis. George Lucas initially conceived the idea for Willow, and after working with Davis on Return of the Jedi, the pair decided to create the film with Howard directing. That film entails a high-fantasy adventure about Willow Ufgood, a dwarf and aspiring sorcerer who goes on a journey to save a magical child from the machinations of an evil sorceress.

The Disney+ series premiered in November 2022 and picks up 20 years later as that magical child, Elora Danan (Ellie Bamber), discovers her true identity as one of the most powerful sorceresses in the world of Willow. Meanwhile, Willow and Queen Sorsha (Joanne Whalley), who were once friends and fought together, have had a falling out. The new characters introduced in the show include Princess Kit Tanthalos (Ruby Cruz), Jade (Erin Kellyman), and Prince Graydon (Tony Revolori). Together, they all set off to save Kit’s brother from a new enemy, and while they succeed, the events of the season 1 finale indicate that there’s more story to tell for Willow season 2.

Willow Season 2 Latest Updates

Recent Willow season 2 updates are certainly not what fans had been hoping for but they are also not as dire as they seemed at first. Initial reports came that Willow season 2 was canceled which came shortly after Disney+ announced plans to slow content. Many assumed the two were related and Willow was a casualty in Disney reconsidering their streaming platform plans. However, Willow showrunner Jon Kasdan insisted the truth is not so defined and that Willow season 2 is only delayed for now. It puts a lot more uncertainty in the future of the show than fans would have wanted, but the good news is that there is still hope.

Willow Season 2 Is Not Confirmed

With the conflicting news or Willow’s cancellation and its delay, it is clear that Willow season 2 is unconfirmed at this point. The mid-credits sequence at the end of the Willow season 1 finale implied that there are more seasons to come: a hand places a tome titled “Volume I” next to two more marked “Volume II” and “Volume III” on a shelf. While this is not a confirmation, it’s still a hint that the creative team may be interested in doing two more seasons. Ron Howard, who is an executive producer on the series, told THR that everyone on the creative side is ready and willing to take on another season. Time will tell how long this delay will be or if it will become permanent.

Willow Season 2 Release Date

No release date has been announced for Willow season 2. With the best-case scenario being that the show has simply been delayed, the comments from Jon Kasdan suggest that it will be at least a year before filming of the new season of Willow even starts, and even that is not guaranteed. That being the case, Willow season 2 could likely be released in late 2025/early 2026 at the earliest.

Willow Season 2 Cast

Willow Main Cast

Most of the cast of the Willow TV series is likely to return in season 2 — if the show continues. Certainly, Warwick Davis will be back as the titular protagonist, Willow Ufgood. As for the other major characters, if they were willing to set off on a dangerous journey to save Airk (Dempsey Bryk), they should be up for another adventure if it means saving the world from the evil magic of the Willow universe. Kit, Jade, Thraxus (Amar Chadha-Patel), Elora, and Airk will be significant players in the wars to come. And now that the Wyrm’s strength is known, more characters will likely take up arms against it.

Willow Season 2 Story Details

Season 1 of Willow saw the end of the heroes’ quest. Willow, Kit, Jade, Elora, Graydon, and Thraxus overcame many dangerous obstacles to rescue Kit’s brother, Airk, from the Crone (Jane Carr). She was the big bad of season 1 who wanted to mold a member of the royal line, Airk, into the Harbinger of the Wyrm, a great evil that she served. In their final fight between the main characters of Willow, the Crone flung Graydon (Tony Revolori) into another dimension, seemingly killing him, and turned her sights on the others. Elora finally learned to control her magic and defeated the Crone.

Together, she, Kit, Willow, and Thraxus freed Airk from the Wyrm’s grasp. With the Crone’s death, the only connection the Wyrm had to the real world was severed, and the group returned home, promising to honor Graydon’s sacrifice. However, in the final scene, Graydon awakened in a new dimension, having survived. There he saw the Wyrm in the form of Elora, who asked for his help. It’s clear that the Order of the Wyrm is still plotting, and destroying it for good will not be so easy. Even if that’s the focus of the story in Willow season 2, subsequent seasons may still be needed to finish the plot entirely.

Willow Season 1’s Reviews Prove It Needs A Season 2

The series Willow ended up with a flipped Rotten Tomatoes score to the film. The show holds an 85% critic score and 66% user rating while Willow the film had a 53% critic score and 79% audience rating. Critics seem to be enjoying the series more than they did the movie, and the audience score is still good for the series even if it isn’t as high as the original. If the middling critical scores of the film didn’t dissuade show developer Jonathan Kasdan and Disney from producing the series, then the even stronger reviews of Willow season 1 should be enough to warrant a second season.
